About ERCS-Training Institute

In the year 1989 Ethiopian Red Cross Society, Center of Capacity Development for Humanitarian Service (CCDHS) was established under Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) aiming at supporting the efforts of the national society through capacity building and generating income so that the society can accomplish its mission. With this regard, Article 12, sub Article 15 and 17 of the establishment Charter of ERCS, which is revised by Proclamation number 1067/2018 has entitled ERCS to generate sustainable income through engaging in different income-generating activities with the mission of conducting
research studies on disaster prevention and development services. And it has been experienced, in hosting conference service including catering services as income generating activity of the society. As part of the change agenda of ERCS, the provision of training service to the market
and to its internal capacity development has been commenced in the mid of 2011, parallel to the provision of catering service.

ERCS-TI has been delivering first aid and humanitarian related trainings for International and National NGOs, government and Private organizations. Currently, ERCS-TI earn more than 30,000,000.00 ETB annual revenue by providing non-boarding and full boarding training
services, conducting consultancy services, renting training room with facilities, providing food, lodging, sauna and GYM services. Out of the annual net profit, ERCS-CCDHS contribute 90% of it for the National Society to support achievement of its mission.

MISSION

Our mission is supporting the humanitarian sector of the country through quality services of training, consultancy and research focusing on provision of:

  • Quality catering and lodging service and facilities.
  • Supporting the national society through building the capacity of its staff and volunteers.
  • Being sustainable income source for the humanitarian effort of the National Society.

By the year 2025 we aspire to be a national center of excellence in humanitarian capacity building services that enable client organizations provide efficient and effective programs and services.

Organizational Structure

The Center is under Secretary General, led by a director and has three Services/divisions with a total of 51 permanent staff and 10-20 contract and casual workers. The training and consultancy division staffed with one training and consultancy division manager two training and consultancy
division experts two training facilitation technicians and more than 20 professional First Aid Trainer. In addition, IT officers working at head office level provide support for ERCS-TI.
